DRX FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Mechanical Traction treatment covered by my insurance?
Mechanical Traction is not billed to insurance (with the exception of Medicare) and we require payment at time of service. Payment plans are available when signing up for a program package.
What happens during a Mechanical Traction treatment?
-
Treatment begins with the patient being fitted with two harnesses: one fitted snugly around the hips and another harness fastened at the rib cage.
-
The bed is then reclined into a horizontal position, pillows are placed under the knees and head. The chest and pelvic harnesses are attached to the computer-controlled servo motor inside the tower.
-
Finally, the technician will enter patient information (or locate, if there has been a previous session) to pull up your customized treatment settings and initiate the decompression process. The patient can relax while we dim the lights. Sessions take approximately 30 minutes.
Is a referral required for treatment on the DRX?
No, referral is not necessary but treatment must be approved by Dr. Foreit. An initial evaluation is required to determine if Mechanical Traction treatment would be appropriate and beneficial for your condition.
How soon will I feel results after spinal decompression treatment?
Many people feel relief during and after their first session! Most patients will begin to feel relief from pain as pressure on the compressed nerve will be relieved as the spine is in the decompressed state. After the initial treatments some may feel some soreness in the back as muscles are stretched that normally are not. This is normal and soreness should dissipate with each treatment.
How long do treatments take?
Typically, DRX sessions are approximately 30 minutes. Most patients find the treatment to be very relaxing, with some falling asleep for the duration! You can feel free to bring a book or browse on your phone while you comfortably relax on the treatment bed.
Are DRX treatments always successful?
In published clinical studies nearly 9 out of 10 patients benefit from the DRX9000 machine treatment; in one particular published study conducted by medical doctors associated with the University of California, Stanford, Johns Hopkins and Georgetown, the DRX9000 spinal decompression helped in reducing back pain with a correlating increased disc height. As with any treatment, individual results can vary.
Am I a good candidate for DRX treatment?
If you are above the age of 18 and are suffering from back pain, sciatica or any symptoms due to a herniated disc, bulging disc, degenerative disc or posterior facet syndrome, you may be a candidate. Dr. Foreit will evaluate your medical history and current condition to determine if this is the best course of treatment for your condition.
